About Demining Research Community

OUR MISSION

Our mission at the Demining Research Community (DRC) is to research, develop, and field test cutting edge multispectral imaging, thermal imaging, photogrammetry, drone platforms, and machine learning to improve current demining technologies

OUR GOAL

Our ultimate goal at the DRC is to assist in detecting the millions of landmines and unexploded ordnances worldwide, providing novel and innovative solutions to a decades-old humanitarian crisis.

OUR ORIGIN

The Demining Research Community was founded by members of Binghamton University’s Geophysics and Remote Sensing Laboratory, a team of interdisciplinary scientists with backgrounds in remote sensing, geophysics, computer science, archeology, and geology.  As a humanitarian nonprofit, we recently partnered with the OSU Institute for Global Explosive Mitigation, a group that collaborates with others around the globe to help those in the field effectively and efficiently detect and remove landmines.
